![]() ![]() For some bizarre reason, a lot of emotion has been attached to this little device. You don't owe anyone an explanation nor do you need anyone's approval for your choices with your guitar preferences. The bottom line is that it really doesn't matter what any of us think. It in no way argues for what another person should do, nor does it provide a solid complaint against the device. However, this is my own OCD and I acknowledge that. I keep the capo in my pocket or on top of my amp. When I play acoustic, if I use a capo, I never clip the capo on the headstock to await deployment, either. When I did have a lock nut, I never even mounted the adjustment Allen key to the back of the headstock because I didn't like the look of an Allen key on the back of my headstock. I'm a minimalist when it comes to stuff like that, and it's not an "anti-Tronical" bias. ![]() I can understand the desire not to have one on a guitar. If I distill the posts properly, it seems the device does work, assuming the guitar is in good order and does not have any nut issues. I have to go off the words of folks here on this forum. Does it work? Having never actually tried one nor played one, I don't know. However, they don't have one to fit it.Īll my tongue-in-cheek teasing and joking aside (as in this little parody thread here, ), it really comes down to what you need and want. I actually did check into getting a Tronical for my Washburn HB-30 some months ago, since that guitar is my modding platform. I understand that a local Guitar Center keeps a few spares in stock, as well. I ordered the part from Gibson and had it in 48 hrs. Of the probably 40 sets of Gibson type Tronicals I've seen, I had to replace a treble side tuning head that had been wound with a speed tuner, so the gears had galled. Oh, yeah, "something more that can go bad.", I've kept pretty thorough records of my repair business for the last few years and incredibly, I find I have replaced about 150 Grover, Kluson and Ping tuning machines over the years, due to failure/breakage. ![]() The biggest hassle, you have to learn about as much information as required to program your car audio. So does the audience.ĭo I need a tronical min-etune? No, just like I don't need a power lawn mower, but it sure as hell gets me back to what I'd rather be doing sooner. I also gig, so I find being able to refresh tuning between songs, change tunings and return to standard in seconds real benefits. For those with a touch of arthritis, that's a big bonus. ![]() The informed one on this now well established piece of kit is, overwhelmingly, that it works, as advertised. While I understand one of our members can swapout a broken string in under 20 seconds manually(No evidence available ) I do complete string changes, without turning a knob, in 10 minutes, easily. Everyone has and is entitled to an opinion. Satisfied? Of course, the fact that you title the thread with a rigged question might lead some to think that you are just trolling, especially since two minutes of research would have revealed reviews by owners, almost all of whom agree, whether they keep it or not, that the unit works, fine, when setup and also the thousands of real troll threads by those who have never used one. ![]()
